Hobart College grad Ali Marpet retires from NFL

Former Hobart College star offensive lineman Ali Marpet announced his retirement from the NFL in an Instagram post on Sunday.

Marpet was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft. He was the highest pick for a Division III student-athlete in NFL history. Marpet started 101 regular season games and six postseason games over his seven-year career. He also helped the Bucs win the 2020 Super Bowl and was a first-time Pro Bowl selection in 2021.

The 28-year-old had two seasons remaining on a five-year, $54.125 million contract he signed in October 2018.
