U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand held a press conference in Rochester on Thursday revealing details of the Made in America Manufacturing Communities Act of 2022.
According to Sen. Gillibrand’s office, the program created under the proposed bill would incentivize private-public partnerships when designating “manufacturing communities.” These communities would be eligible for federal financial and technical support to bolster domestic manufacturing.
“New York is already a leader in this space, and this long-term investment will empower businesses to create good-paying manufacturing jobs that fit the needs of individual communities right at home in America,” said Sen. Gillibrand at the Thursday, February 24 press conference, according to WROC.
The press conference was hosted at Monroe Community College’s (MCC) downtown campus. It was attended by Rochester Mayor Malik Evans and Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce CEO Robert Duffy, as well as other state and local officials.
