MLB season will be shortened if no deal is reached by Feb. 28

Major League Baseball announced Wednesday that the 2022 regular season will be shortened if the owners and players union can’t agree to a new collective bargaining agreement by Monday, February 28.

Players would also not be paid for the games that are cancelled, per Jesse Rogers of ESPN.

During Wednesday’s meeting in Jupiter Florida, the league made just one new proposal, adding $10,000 to the minimum salary per year, according to Evan Drellich of The Athletic.

The two sides are scheduled to meet again for the fourth straight day on Thursday.
