Syracuse’s Coach Boeheim wants arena mask mandate lifted ahead of Saturday’s game

Syracuse University Men’s Basketball Coach Jim Boeheim wants the Dome Arena’s mask mandate lifted ahead of Saturday’s game against Duke.

“Hopefully we can be like the rest of the country and come in here without masks Saturday but I guess we just can’t do that,” said Boeheim during a press conference on Monday, February 20, according to CNY Central. “I’d like to see it. I hope so. I think it’s about time.”

The university says they are working with public health officials to decide next steps. Syracuse isn’t the only Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) school that requires masking in arenas- Duke, Boston College, and Wake Forest still have the requirement in place.
