The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Department has created the position of Identification Officer.
That role is being filled by Justin Lasinski. Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck says Lasinski will be able to do background checks, thus speeding up the process of applying for pistol permits, which has slowed down considerably since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
