Republican businessman Harry Wilson joined the race for New York governor on Tuesday, February 22, pledging $12 million of his own funds to the campaign.
I’m running for Governor to turn around New York.
Our state is totally broken. Rising crime, sky-high taxes, closed schools, corrupt politicians.
I’ve spent my career turning around failing organizations. Let’s get this done. https://t.co/RwPrwvR3Aw

“Rising crime, out of control taxes, skyrocketing cost of living, closed schools, corrupt politicians – New York needs a turnaround,” said Wilson, according to Fox 40.
U.S. Representative Lee Zeldin of New York’s 1st congressional district is currently leading the race for the GOP gubernatorial nomination. Zeldin is a vocal supporter of former President Donald Trump and had $5.6 million in campaign funds at the end of 2021.
Wilson appears to be playing catch up- he has campaign stops planned in 10 cities for this week alone. He previously worked for companies like the Blackstone Group and Goldman Sachs prior to becoming partner at Silver Point Capital. He has his own advisory firm and was named CEO of Genesis HealthCare last year.
