Forecasters in the Finger Lakes, Central New York, and Southern Tier are watching for the potential of a winter weather event later this week. The prospect of widespread snow, or freezing rain late-Thursday into Friday is a possibility.
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for much of Western New York as rain moves into the area later today and tonight. Rain will fall through much of the next 48 hours.
Total rainfall for the region will be between a half- and one-inch. River flooding combined with recent snow melt will create challenges.
The Storm Trackers Team is also watching a winter weather event that could pose travel challenges during the overnight hours between Thursday and Friday. Either snow or mixed precipitation could continue through the day on Friday.
