Families in the Finger Lakes are getting ready to send their children back to school after winter break, with masks still required in education facilities.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul has previously stated her intention of revisiting the idea of lifting the mask mandate in schools post-winter break. Earlier this month, Gov, Hochul lifted the mask mandate for indoor businesses and public venues.
Kellijoe Kaufman of Newark says she’d like to see the mask mandate stay in place for schools, at least for a while longer.
“I don’t want them to go away, I work in a middle school, I don’t want my kids getting sick or other students getting sick, I just think we’re jumping the gun on this,” said Kaufman to News10 NBC.
