Auburn holds public hearing on making Cold War veterans tax exemption permanent

The city of Auburn is taking steps to make a tax break for Cold War veterans permanent.


A state program allows communities to grant Cold War veterans a ten or 15 percent reduction in the assessed valuation of their primary residences. Auburn City Clerk Chuck Mason says no one commented at a public hearing last week on a proposal to make the tax break permanent. Currently, it expires every ten years.
