Buffalo Sabres centerman Casey Mittelstadt is expected to return to the lineup on Saturday when the team hosts the Colorado Avalanche, according to head coach Don Granato.
Mittelstadt has appeared in just seven games this season due to injuries. He suffered two upper-body injuries, the second of which required surgery.
Granato said he could have returned to the lineup Thursday night against the Ottawa Senators, but the Sabres wanted him to participate in one more practice before returning to game action.
Buffalo is ranked last in face-off percentage at 45.9% so Mittelstadt will certainly help.
Puck drop for Saturday’s game is scheduled for 1 p.m.
