Geneva resident and World War II veteran Samuel Ferugia was able to purchase a new car after his old one was stolen thanks to the kindness of one stranger.
Ferugia’s car was stolen behind Baroody’s Cigar Store in Geneva nearly two weeks ago, according to News10 NBC.
Derrick Spatorico, a Fairport resident and attorney, was inspired to buy Ferugia a car after hearing his story. Ferugia picked out a 2013 Chevy Cruze from a local dealership.
“I couldn’t believe that somebody would do something like that for me,” said Ferugia. “I’m nobody. I’m a poor man. I was born poor, and I’ll die poor.”
Ferugia’s old vehicle was found abandoned in Phelps last Thursday, February 10.
