The National Guard will be assisting Finger Lakes Health at its long-term care facilities.
According to a news release, Finger Lakes Health says the Guard will help at Huntington Living Center in Waterloo, Living Center at Geneva North and Living Center at Geneva South, in Geneva and The Homestead in Penn Yan.
Guard members will be assigned in non-clinical areas, according to Finger Lakes Health. This includes providing clerical support, screening visitors and staff for COVID symptoms, assisting nutritional service working in dish room, cleaning equipment, and transporting food carts, as well as assisting the housekeeping team.
“We are very appreciative of the assistance that the Guard members are providing. This allows our staff to continue to focus on providing the high level of quality care that are residents and their families deserve. We know that the Guard members are leaving their families and their communities to come help care for ours. We cannot thank them enough for their support and all that they are doing for residents,” Bill Garrity, VP of Long Term Care said.
