Trooper shot and killed suspect in Buffalo following Thruway chase

The New York State Attorney General’s office has launched an investigation into Saturday’s deadly shooting that involved a NYS Police trooper.

State police say the trooper tried to pull over an erratic driver on the state Thruway around 10:40 a.m. on Saturday, February 12. The driver did not pull over, instead taking an exit northbound to Buffalo, according to 13 Wham.

The trooper located the suspect’s vehicle in the city of Buffalo- when the trooper approached the vehicle, verbal commands were given. Then, the trooper shot the suspect, who died at the scene.

“This morning one of our Troopers was involved in a deadly shooting of a motorist after a pursuit in Buffalo. I have directed the New York State Police to fully cooperate with the Attorney General’s independent investigation. As we await a transparent and thorough review of the facts, our thoughts are with the victim’s family and our Troopers,” said Governor Kathy Hochul in a press release.
