Republican gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin criticizes Gov. Kathy Hochul for “attempts to remove” acting Cayuga County District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci from her position.
Grome Antonacci succeeded Jon Budelmann as the county’s top prosecutor in December 2021, according to The Citizen.

Gov. Hochul has the authority to replace Grome Antonacci until a new District Attorney is appointed in the November elections. Grome Antonacci and other Republicans argue former Gov. Andrew Cuomo set a precedent for the governor not to fill vacancies.
Grome Antonacci is running for a full four-year term come November. There is currently no Democratic challenger for the seat.
