The Artworks Gallery will offer a series of Landscape Workshops with Roberta Nelson on Fridays from February 25 through April 1. The six week course will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Artworks Gallery, 109 Fall Street in downtown Seneca Falls.
Roberta Nelson says, “This six weeks course is geared to learning the elements of landscape composition. It is geared for those who would like to begin landscape painting or drawing and for those who would just like refresh their skills.”

Areas of study include use of pictorial planes such as: foreground, middle ground, and background; types of spatial layouts: shallow, intermediate, and deep; landscape components: sky, clouds, land masses, trees, light, shadows, reflections, light; compositional elements: balance, aerial perspective, color dominance; and textural techniques. Exercises will include drawing with regular pencils and the use of white, greys, black, plus color mediums. For the first class participants need to bring an HB or 2B regular pencil, a good eraser, and 9”x 12” or larger drawing papers or drawing pad. Other materials will be added as the classes proceed.
