The Buffalo Police say a student was stabbed on Wednesday, February 9 outside of McKinley High School, not shot as initial reports claimed.
Police say a 14-year-old male was rushed to Oishei Children’s Hospital following the incident, according to CNY Central. As of 9 p.m. on Wednesday, the boy was out of surgery.
The initial incident occurred near the school parking lot at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. A security guard was shot in the leg and taken to ECMC with non-life threatening injuries.
Buffalo Public Schools Superintendent Kriner Cash says McKinley High School will “reset” and re-open in phases. The remote learning model could be in place for students until as late as February 28.
A reported 100 students and staff members were inside of the high school at the time of the incident.
