This week on The Debrief Podcast its a mix of local and state political news. Hosts Ted Baker and Josh Durso are joined by Debrief co-creator Jackie Augustine on the six year anniversary of the show.
The trio discusses the following stories, as 2022 enters its second full month:
- Where does Geneva go from here? City officials named a new Ward 6 councilor, but there are still crucial vacancies at city hall.
- What’s next for redistricting? The process is complete, but the new districts in the Finger Lakes region don’t make a lot of sense.
- What’s happening with rent? What’s the affordable housing answer? A recent story on FingerLakes1.com highlighted anecdotal evidence of significant increases in overall rent rates. But there’s plenty of other evidence showing rent rates skyrocketing.
- Is the appointment-filling process broken? There’s been controversy brewing in Cayuga County after the Acting DA there, who is running to fill a vacancy, says local Democrats and the Governor’s office are effectively colluding to appoint a Democrat to the post.
