Across the nine counties in the Finger Lakes region, roughly 60% of eligible people have received the COVID-19 booster.
That’s higher than the state average- less than half of eligible New Yorkers have gotten the booster shot, according to WHEC. Nationally, about 41% of eligible Americans have been boosted.
The Finger Lakes Region maintains a 75% overall vaccination rate, including those who have received only their first vaccine dose. In regards to booster shots, the FLX Vaccine Hub is hoping to reach the 40% of people in the region holding out on getting the booster.
“We saw, at our peak weeks about 30[,000]-33,000 individuals receiving their boosters. When you look at it now we’re down to 12[,000]-14,000 individuals a week so, about half of what we’ve seen before,” said Dr. Boyce, FLX Vaccine Hub’s Director of Analytics.
