Ithaca assault under investigation: Police say it wasn’t a random act of violence

The Ithaca Police Department says no arrests have been made following an assault.

Police say that on February 4 around 9:57 a.m. officers were dispatched to 130 Cherry Street for the report of an assault that happened two hours earlier.

According to a news release, a male victim was attacked by another male inside the Art Haus. The victim was struck in the head with an unknown object and reported that his cell phone and wallet were stolen.

The suspect then fled the area and was described as a white male, thin build, wearing a blue sweatshirt.

The victim suffered injuries to the head but refused medical attention.

The victim and suspect are known to each other. Police said it was not a random act of violence.
