Could New York surpass mobile sports betting record on Super Bowl Sunday?

New York could beat Nevada’s record of highest mobile sports wagering made in a single day on upcoming Super Bowl Sunday.

The record was set back in 2018 when bettors wagered $158.6 million in Nevada on a single day, according to Albany Times-Union. With New York’s population of 30 million compared to Nevada’s 3 million, it’s very possible the Empire State could surpass that betting record on Super Bowl Sunday this February 13, where the Cincinnati Bengals will play the Los Angeles Rams.

During the first three weeks mobile sports betting has been allowed in New York, a total of $1.17 billion has been wagered. Mobile sports betting was made legal in the state last year and launched for consumers in January 2022.

So far, five vendors are operating in New York State: Rush Street Interactive, Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings Sportsbook, Bet MGM, and FanDuel Sportsbook. Three other vendors are approved but not yet up and running.
