Conole leads CNY Democrats in race for redrawn NY-22

Francis Conole has outraised his nearest Democratic competitor by a 4-to-1 margin in the race for his party’s nomination in the newly redrawn 22nd Congressional District.

Conole, D-Syracuse, raised $202,275 in the fourth quarter of 2021, raising a total of $439,638 since launching his second campaign for Congress, according to The Citizen. Conole’s campaign has spent $99,138 and has $284,502 cash on hand. More than 97% of campaign cash came from individual donors.

Sarah Klee Hood, a current DeWitt town councilor, raised $52,495 in the two months following her campaign announcement in November 2021. Hood’s campaign spent $5,714 and has $46,780 in the bank, per campaign filings. Almost 90% of her campaign cash came from individual donors.

Steven Holden, the first Democrat to enter the race, raised $4,750 from five individual donors. He spent $2,808 and has $28,247 cash on hand.

There is one Republican in the race, Tim Ko, who planned to challenge John Katko for the GOP nomination prior to Katko announcing in January he would not seek reelection.
