MLB, MLBPA end ‘heated’ 90-minute meeting with no progress

It doesn’t look like Major League Baseball will start on time.

Major League Baseball Players Association and MLB returned to the negotiating table on Tuesday in New York and met for around 90 minutes in what was described as “heated” discussions, according to Evan Drellich of The Athletic. Little to no progress was made, which means spring training won’t start on February 16.

According to the Associated Press, the MLBPA proposed two changes, which the owners are expected to respond back to sometime this week.

The MLB season is scheduled to start on March 31, but a deal would have to be reached by late February or early March for the season to start on time.
