Claudia Tenney announces run for New York’s redrawn 23rd district

U.S. Rep. Claudia Tenney (R) announced her candidacy for New York’s 23rd Congressional District on Monday, January 31.

The proposed district was created following a population shift in the 2020 Census and includes parts of Broome, Chenango, Cortland, and Tioga counties, currently part of New York’s 22nd Congressional District, which Tenney represents.

The redrawn district is vast and includes a large part of NY-23’s current map, like Allegany, Steuben, and Chemung counties, according to The Evening Tribune. It also includes portions of Erie, Wyoming, Livingston, Schuyler, and Yates counties.

Most of the area incorporated into the redrawn district is currently represented by Tom Reed (R), who announced he would not seek reelection.
