Sabres place three players, five staff members in NHL’s COVID-19 protocol

The Buffalo Sabres just can’t catch a break.

Prior to Saturday’s game against the Arizona Coyotes, forwards Rasmus Asplund and Victor Olofsson, defenseman Rasmus Dahlin, assistant coach Matt Ellis, and an additional four members of the traveling party were placed in the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol.

Goaltender Michael Houser was placed on the list Friday, meaning there are now four guys out of the lineup for at least five days. This also means they won’t be available for the team’s three-game road trip out west.

The team also activated goaltender Craig Anderson and forward Kyle Okposo from injured reserve. Goaltender Dustin Tokarski was activated from non-roster status and defenseman Casey Fitzgerald was recalled from the taxi squad.
