At their last meeting, the Auburn City Council passed a resolution calling on Governor Kathy Hochul to classify EMS personnel as essential health care workers.
Only 11 states consider EMS an essential service on the level of police or firefighters. Auburn City Clerk Chuck Mason says the Council believes with the state in a strong fiscal position, the Governor should raise the profile of EMS workers and include money in the state budget for EMS services.
