After two years on the state comptroller’s list, Weedsport School District is no longer designated as a district experiencing fiscal stress. Weedsport district’s website announced its new “no designation” status in January 21 news release.
“This classification is an acknowledgement of the hard work that the District’s business office engaged in during these turbulent fiscal times spurred by the pandemic,” said Superintendent Shaun O’Connor. “Moreover, credit is due the Board of Education for its demonstration of fiscal leadership on behalf of the taxpayers.”
The district got the “moderate fiscal stress” designation from the state in 2021, and a “susceptible to to fiscal stress” rating in 2020, according to The Citizen.
