Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen will not be headed to Las Vegas, Nevada for the 2022 Pro Bowl.
The 25-year-old was named an alternate after losing out to Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson for the third and final quarterback slot on the AFC roster.
Allen released the following statement to ESPN:
“Unfortunately, I will be declining the invitation to play in the Pro Bowl this year — in order to allow my body to rest and recover from the harshness of the season. The type of quarterback [that] I am, I obtain a lot of bumps and bruises along the road of a season, so I will use this time to let my body heal.”
The NFL is expected to announce who will replace Allen on the roster within the next couple of days.
The Pro Bowl is scheduled for Sunday, February 6 at 3 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN.
