The Weedsport Central School District has announced a new principal for its Jr.-Sr. High School. Sherri Monell will assume the position on February 24, says a post on the district’s website.
Monell is currently the principal of Skoi-Yase Primary School in the Waterloo Central School District, according to The Citizen. She comes to Weedsport after 19 years as an educator in the Waterloo district, previously serving as the director of pupil personnel services and as a special education teacher.
Current Weedsport Jr-Sr. High School principal Brett Fingland will transition to the role of director of operations and technology infrastructure in the wake of current director Chuck Roach’s retirement.
“I know that students succeed when they are surrounded by a team of supporters, including school personnel and family members,” said Monell in the district’s news release. “I am eager to work with these teams in the interest of increasing student success.”
