Who can get the recovery rebate credit from the IRS?

If you did not receive the economic impact payment, or were sent less than you expected, you may qualify for this credit.

The recovery rebate was on the 2020 tax return form as well, for the two stimulus payments in 2020.

Most people who were entitled to stimulus checks received them, but some were missed for various reasons.

Stimulus: Can the IRS tax my stimulus check payments?

If you had a child, or lived abroad, in 2021, the IRS may not have known. Therefore, they did not send you a check.

Other reasons may be you had a change in income between 2019 and 2021 that isn’t reflected on your most recent tax returns.

Make sure that you were eligible before the payment and then make the claim for the recovery rebate credit on your tax return this year.

You can check your IRS online account to see which stimulus checks you received and how much they were for.

Letters are also being sent to those who received stimulus checks so they can properly report them to the IRS.

The details of the letter will also help you to determine if you qualify for additional payment.
