The New York State Department of Labor (NYS DOH) has released December 2021 preliminary local area unemployment rates. To recap last week’s statewide press release, New York State’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased from 6.6% in November to 6.2% in December 2021.
The Buffalo-Niagara Falls metro area unemployment rate decreased from 7.9% in December 2020 to 3.3% in December 2021.
Rochester’s unemployment rate decreased as well, going from 6.7% in December 2020 to 2.9% in December 2021.
Likewise, the unemployment rate in Syracuse also decreased, going from 6.5% in December 2020 to 3.0% in December 2021.
