Bills-Chiefs playoff game draws massive TV audience

Sunday’s thrilling AFC divisional-round game between the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs on CBS generated a massive audience.

It was the most-watched NFL divisional playoff game on any network in five years, drawing an average of 43 million viewers, according to the CBS Sports press release.

The most recent divisional-round contest with a higher rating was between the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys on January 15, 2017.

The audience peaked at 51.7 million viewers, the second straight week CBS topped the 50-million viewer mark for an NFL game after the wild-card tilt between the Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers.

The Chiefs defeated the Bills, 42-36, in overtime to advance to the AFC Championship Game for the fourth consecutive season.
