Savona father and son indicted on sex abuse charges: Accusations span more than a decade

A father and son from Savona, Steuben County have been indicted for sexually assaulting children over the last 11 years.

According to investigators, Joseph Thompson Sr., 53, and Joseph Thompson Jr., 19, were both indicted for sexually assaulting children under 13 years of age.

The incidents took place between November 2012 and March 2021, according to court documents.


Thompson Sr. was charged with predatory sexual assault against a child, endangering the welfare of a child, incest, and two counts of sex abuse.

Thompson Jr. was charged with predatory sex assault against a child, endangering the welfare of a child, sex abuse, criminal sex act, and incest.

The indictments were handed down by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, who did not specify the number of victims.
