In a rematch of the 2020 AFC Championship, the Bills and Chiefs met again at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday night, and for the second straight season, Kansas City knocked Buffalo out of the playoffs.
But this time around, it took extra time. The Chiefs got the ball first in overtime, and scored an 8-yard touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes to Travis Kelce for the game-winning touchdown to send the Chiefs to the AFC Championship with the 42-36 win.

The overtime rule for playoff games must change. If this one doesn’t spark a more fair approach nothing ever will.

A crazy stat that is more relevant after the overtime finish: Josh Allen came into today’s game 9-0 on coin tosses this season.

#Chiefs led #Bills 26-21 at the two-minute warning.
The final score was 42-36.

If you’re someone who wants to try and find something positive:
Josh Allen is 25-years-old, has ice in his veins and is one of the best players in the NFL. As long as he is the quarterback of the Buffalo Bills, this team will have a chance to go all the way.

Josh Allen had 9 touchdowns and no turnovers in the postseason.
And the Bills will still see their season end in the Divisional Round.
Outside of incorrectly guessing the OT coin toss, Josh Allen was perfect this postseason. What a rough way to go out. Man.

The #Bills took the lead with 13 seconds left in regulation and still lost. Hard to do that.

Josh Allen in the 2021-22 postseason: 48-of-62 (77.4%), 637 yards, 9 TDs and 0 INTs. 17 carries, 132 yards. Unbelievable performance. He went to the next level. And his initial level was all that and a bag of chips. https://t.co/lGTc01TFRn

Josh Allen didn't get to touch the ball in overtime…. just like Patrick Mahomes didn't get to touch the ball in overtime in 2019.

I’m sad for Buffalo.

I feel horrible for the Bills and their fans. Not because of the overtime rules, but because they played so damn well. Heartbreaking to come this close.
— Andrew Siciliano (@AndrewSiciliano) January 24, 2022
That has to be the greatest Qb performance in a loss ever by Josh Allen. He was perfect and lost.

Bills WR Gabriel Davis just became the first player in NFL History with 4 receiving TD in a playoff game ????

#Bills scored 36 points in regulation and are going home. No. 1 pass defense gave up 370 yards through the air and 3 passing TDs.
— Matt Parrino (@MattParrino) January 24, 2022
Josh Allen gave The @BuffaloBills the lead with 1:54 left and :13 seconds left in regulation and Buffalo lost. But tell me again that wins and that wins and losses are a QB stat ?
— trey wingo (@wingoz) January 24, 2022
Tonight, the Chiefs and Bills combined to go 5/5 on fourth down. This is only the second time in the Super Bowl Era that two teams combined for 5+ fourth down conversions without a single turnover on downs in a playoff game.

The combined margin of victory across all four games this weekend was 15 points. That’s the smallest combined margin of victory in divisional round history.
