New York is moving to self-reporting for contact tracing.
Governor Kathy Hochul announced Tuesday that the state is launching websites this week for residents to add their own information about close contacts.
“We’re moving to more self-management and less active outreach,” Acting Commissioner of Health Dr. Mary Bassett said alongside the Governor.
The state is going to leave it up to local health departments as to whether contact tracing continues at that level.
The move is part of the state’s effort to allow public health offices to focus on testing and vaccination.
