Two deputies with the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office have been recognized for saving a dog who jumped into the Owasco River Outlet last week.
It happened Friday and the dog was unable to swim and navigate the fast-moving water.
That’s when deputies Wes Burger and Matt Temple jumped into action.
They found a spot that allowed them to get close enough to ‘Fuzzy’ the dog stuck in the fast-moving water and bring him to the edge.
The dog was taken care of by 911 dispatchers until Fuzzy’s owners were located Monday evening.
