The Seneca County Board of Supervisors Government Operations Committee has approved a measure banning comments from the County Health Department Facebook page.
The Finger Lakes Times reports the committee agreed with the Board of Health, which recommended banning comments due to what Health Director Scott King called “too much misinformation and contrary information being posted that hurts our message of on vaccination, testing and masking.”
County Manager Mitch Rowe said the county doesn’t have the staff to monitor social media comments in real time.
The committee voted 5-0 to send the measure to the full Board of Supervisors for a vote.
