The state’s SUNY schools and Syracuse University will open their COVID-19 testing sites to the public, beginning Tuesday.
The Democrat and Chronicle reports the more contagious Omicron variant and increased holiday travel drove up the demand for testing. The state has announced millions of test kits are on the way to public schools. Meanwhile, the SUNY campuses and a test site at the former Carrier Dome will open to the public. For the most part, those sites aren’t being used by students, since many have not yet returned from holiday break.
The Dome site will be open 10-3 Tuesday and can test as many as four thousand people per day.
