The state DEC has issued the first update to rules covering Wildlife Management Areas since 1995.
NYUpstate.com reports the regulations include restrictions on the use of motor vehicles, a prohibition on against the introduction of invasive species, restrictions on firearms use and a leash law for dogs.
Wildlife Management Areas are parcels owned by the state and administered by the DEC Bureau of Fish and Wildlife. The WMA system includes 250,000 acres of land across the state, including 53,000 acres of wetlands and 124,000 acres of forests and grasslands. They are parcels of land acquired specifically for wildlife conservation.
