State troopers have provided an update on the officer-involved shooting that happened in Herkimer County over the holiday weekend.
Police were called to 203 Mers Way at 1 p.m. on Christmas Eve for the report of a domestic-related stabbing.
They found that Carson Dobson, 24, had broke into a home and stabbed the victim several times before leaving the scene.
A short time later, officers found Dobson carrying a knife and sword.
After refusing to drop the weapons, officers deployed a stun gun. Despite the stun, Dobson continued coming toward the officers, threatening them as he carried the knife and sword.
That’s when an officer shot the 24-year-old, who died at the scene.
The stabbing victim was expected to be OK, according to a press release.
The Attorney General’s office has been notified, and responded to the incident. They are now leading the investigation into the officer-involved shooting.
