Firefighters worked for hours on Sunday attempting to limit the damage to a residence after a fire was reported on Stone Quarry Road.
The call came in around 8:15 a.m., according to first responders, who say the Ithaca Fire Department was dispatched to the scene.
They noticed a light smoke condition inside the house, and eventually discovered fire in the walls and floors near the fireplace.
Crews worked for two hours attempting to locate the fire and limit damage to the home. The fire was eventually located and extinguished.
The residents were able to return to the home after local codes deemed it safe to occupy.
No injuries were reported, but the fire is under investigation. Traffic was temporarily diverted around the area as crews worked.
