Police on the Cornell University Campus have made an arrest in connection with the fire that happened two days before Christmas.
Paul Elsner, 43, was arrested by Cornell University Police after a dumpster was set on fire in the parking lot of a building.
The report came around 1:23 p.m. on December 23, according to police. The fire was put out quickly by the Ithaca Fire Department.
Elsner was detained a short time after the fire nearby.
Further investigation led police to discover that Elsner started the fire, but is not affiliated with Cornell. Officers say they have no information to believe that he is connected to other fires that have recently been reported on-campus.
Elsner was charged with criminal mischief and will appear in court at a later date to answer the charge.
