Fire spreads from vehicle to garage, prompting five hour shutdown of County Road 37 on Christmas Eve

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office provided an update on the structure fire that first responders were called to around 4:45 a.m. on Christmas Eve.

It happened on County Road 37, and resulted in several fire departments being called to the scene.

A vehicle outside a residence at 4123 County Road 37 caught fire, and the flames eventually spread to the nearby structure. It was a residential unit, according to deputies, who said all three people inside escaped without injury.

Fire personnel were able to extinguish the fire without severe damage to the living area of the home, deputies said.

Firefighters from Richmond, Bristol, East Bloomfield, Iona, Hemlock, Springwater, and Maxfield assisted.

County Road 37 between Briggs Street to Howcroft Road was shut down for approximately five hours while firefighters remained at scene.
