Joint Canandaigua-Geneva underage sex sting nets alleged offenders from Canandaigua, Brockport, Clifton Springs

A number of people have been arrested following a joint operation by Canandaigua and Geneva police aimed at keeping potential child victims safe.

The City of Canandaigua Police Department reports the arrest of 38-year-old, Dale C. Lloyd of Canandaigua, New York. Lloyd was arrested on December 16th, 2021 and charged with attempted disseminating indecent material to a minor.


It is alleged that Lloyd did attempt to have sexual conversation with what he thought was a 14-year-old child via phone. Lloyd talked about attempting to meet up with the 14-year-old child and instead was arrested by a Canandaigua Police Detective. Lloyd was processed at the station and it was discovered that Lloyd was on parole for rape in the second degree. Lloyd was transported to the Ontario County Jail to be held until CAP arraignment. Further charges against Lloyd are pending.

The City of Canandaigua Police Department reports the arrest of 52-year-old, Scott D. Rightmyer of Brockport, New York. Rightmyer was arrested on December 18th, 2021 and charged with attempted disseminating indecent material to a minor.


It is alleged that Rightmyer did attempt to have sexual conversation with what he thought was a 14-year-old child via phone. Rightmyer talked about attempting to meet up with the 14-year-old child and instead was arrested by a Canandaigua Police Detective. Rightmyer was processed at the station and released on appearance ticket to appear in Canandaigua City Court on January 12th, 2021 at 08:30 am. Further charges against Rightmyer are pending.

The City of Canandaigua Police Department reports the arrest of 46-year-old, Gary D. Lyman Jr of Clifton Springs, New York. Lyman was arrested on December 22nd, 2021 and charged with attempted disseminating indecent material to a minor.


It is alleged that Lyman did attempt to have sexual conversation with what he thought was a 14-year-old child via phone. Lyman talked about attempting to meet up with the 14-year-old child and instead was arrested by a Canandaigua Police Detective. Lyman was processed at the station and released on appearance ticket to appear in Canandaigua City Court on January 12th, 2021 at 08:30 am. Further charges against Lyman are pending.
