The White House’s officials are trying to create plans that will help families. This is because the expanded child tax credit is not being extended.

President Joe Biden and other officials had hoped to get the extension passed under the Build Back Better plan. Unfortunately, it needed to be passed before Dec. 28, 2021.
Senator Joe Manchin needed to vote for it to pass, and he stated that he could not support the Build Back Better plan.
The Senate is now adjourned until Jan. 15, 2022.

The good news, according to White House press secretary Jen Psaki, is that a Feb. payment may make up for it.
Others feel the bill being passed may be more difficult come 2022 due to it being an election year.
This would make Republicans even less likely to vote in favor of things that would appear as a win for President Biden.
Whether the bill passes and allows families to double dip in Feb. of 2022 on the child tax credit payments is not a guarantee.
