5-11 year old vaccination push going slowly in New York

The rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine to 5-11 year olds in New York is going slowly.

WROC-TV reports only 15% in that age group are fully vaccinated. 25% have received a first dose. Area pediatricians warn that even though younger people don’t generally become as seriously ill as older people, they can spread the virus to more vulnerable people, such as grandparents. With the more transmissible Omicron variant becoming dominant, they’re urging parents to get their children vaccinated.

American Academy of Pediatrics data show 38 COVID deaths among kids last week in the 45 states that report child deaths.
