There could be a change in county leadership in Cayuga County when the calendar turns to January.
The Auburn Citizen reports that as the Cayuga County Legislature welcomes six new members, the board could have enough to put Republican Legislator David Gould (Fleming) to its highest leadership post.
This comes after independent members of the legislature have apparently expressed interest in Gould leading the charge in 2022.
Aileen McNabb-Coleman, a Democrat from Owasco, has led the body for the last two years.
Gould previously served as sheriff in Cayuga County.
