Environmental groups and green energy companies are urging Governor Kathy Hochul to sign a bill to keep charging of electric vehicles affordable.
Spectrum News reports the bill would cover how utilities can set rates for charging vehicles from cars to commercial buses. Supporters of the bill want the cost of charging a car in a garage to be similar to the cost of a ride on an electric bus. Supporters wrote a letter to Governor Hochul saying the bill would allow the state’s entire transportation system to transition to electricity.
30 other states have similar laws on the books. Learn more about the proposed bill here.
