The state has decided tentatively to renew and modify the discharge permit for an ash disposal landfill near the Greenidge Generation plant on Seneca Lake in the Yates County town of Torrey.
The Finger Lakes Times reports before a final decision is made, the DEC will accept written requests for a legislative hearing on the renewal. Lockwood Hills LLC, a subsidiary of Greenidge Generation, submitted the application to modify the permit to reflect the terms of a consent order. The permit allows the discharge of leachate and storm water from the landfill, which takes in coal byproducts and water treatment sludge.
