Auburn man accused of raping 11-year-old released after preliminary hearing in city court

An Auburn man has been arrested and charged with raping a child last spring.

Michael Thorn, 35, was charged with first-degree rape. He’s accused of having sexual contact with a child in May.

The victim in this case was 11-years-old, according to police. He was arraigned and held on $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 secured bond.

However, The Citizen reports that Thorn was released on his own recognizance after appearing for a preliminary hearing in Auburn City Court.

The case is apparently being transferred to Cayuga County Court.
