He can touch ’em all: Schumer maintains 62 county visit tradition

Here’s one annual ritual neither COVID nor Senate duties could take away.

With visits to Schenectady and Wyoming County Sunday, Senator Chuck Schumer once again visited all 62 New York counties at least once this year. He’s been doing it every year since 1998. There were those who wondered if the tradition would continue when Schumer became the Senate Majority Leader.

Schumer says the county visits are an important part of doing his job. The Times Union reports Schumer let it slip that he is definitely running for re-election in 2022. Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is said to be considering a run in the Democratic primary.
